If This Then That
This article is a continuation of “How to use IFTTT recipes to Automate and Improve your Business” which explains the steps to follow to turn this powerful online tool into your personal assistant.
IFTTT… What is it?
IFTTT, which means “If This Then That,” is an easy to use application that allows you to complete repetitive online business tasks. All you have to do is set it up, activate it and let it work. It’s like having a personal assistant who does online work for your business and never calls in late. If you own an independent business, you definitely want to take a look to see what this service has to offer you. It only takes a few minutes to setup each recipe and the effort will help put your business on autopilot. Sign up for IFTTT now.
Below you’ll find my favorite business IFFTT recipes:
If the Sun Sets then Turn On (Off) the Lights
Do you use Belkin WeMo automation for home and business? If yes, then you know that one of its features is to control your appliances through online connected tools. With this recipe you could use IFTTT to turn on(off) your WeMo lights at sun set.
If it is my customer’s birthday then send him/her an email
Send your past customers an email with discounts, coupons and other goodies to encourage them to purchase your goods on their birthday. They already love what you’re offering so let them know that you appreciate their business and have other great offerings at the same time.
If a new purchase is made then add it to Google Spreadsheets
This is a great option for a new start-up or small business with a limited accounting system in place. IFTTT can search for all inbound emails with the words “purchase,” “order,” “receipt” or “invoice” in the subject line and will place it into a spreadsheet in google drive.
If my product sells then notify me by sending a text message
This one is similar to the one above (the trigger is set up the same) but the action sends you a text message when a new order comes in. Note: You can use this trigger and the one above at the same time if you wish.
If I create a New Blog Post then share it on Facebook Page
Do you use the popular website/blogging platform WordPress to engage your customers.? If yes then this IFTTT recipe will send your blog post, about your great product or service, to your business Facebook Page. Note: You can change the action for this recipe to send the blog post to other popular social media platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn.
